Alyx Ss18
We are pleased to announce the launch of our Spring Summer 18 collaboration with cult label ALYX.
Following a visit to the Mackintosh factory in Scotland, creative director Matthew Williams was interested in working with the traditional rubberised cotton to create a series of new pieces that utilize Mackintosh’s unique craftsmanship, whilst integrating characteristic ALYX design elements. The result is a series of highly constructed, functional pieces, with signature hardware and new treatment methods. The first in an ongoing collaboration with Mackintosh, these pieces are the beginning of an exploration into new construction and interpretations of timeless Mackintosh silhouettes.
The collection, available in men's and women's, includes classic hooded and tailored coats, dry bags and mini rollercoaster belts - all produced in our iconic bonded cotton. A striking washed fabric in black and navy, along with a treated tan, gives an added texture and uniqueness to traditional silhouettes. Both treatments are applied by hand in Italy after construction resulting in a distinctive finish on each garment. Interiors of the coats are treated with equal attention to detail: taped seams in tonal colours run parallel down the jackets and custom ALYX shank buttons line the side and back seams.
"Mackintosh is a company I have always hoped to work with. Their attention to detail and construction are really in line with my own, along with their pursuit for longevity. Every jacket is handmade, from the glue being spread on the seams to the pattern pieces being cut and sewn; no other jacket is constructed this way. We were able to visit the factory in Scotland and work closely with the team to use their iconic fabrics and manufacturing techniques as well as develop our own."
