Curated By Mr Slowboy
Inspired by the Bloomsbury Group, a collection of artists with luminaries such as E M Foster and Virginia Woolf among their ranks, Mackintosh reached out to artist and all-round dandy, Mr. Slowboy. His illustrative style captures the spirit of those Avant Garde pioneers with ease, in a manner that is both classic and contemporary.
In conversation, the idea was born to put together a series of collections, that would encapsulate the idea of “What would a modern-day renaissance man, wandering the streets of Bloomsbury, wear today?” The result, a limited range of elegant, tailored and woven garments, beautifully illustrated and curated, by Mr. Slowboy.
Mr. Slowboy has recreated an inspired collection of wardrobe essentials from Mackintosh’s Spring/Summer 20 collection that will be available in-store and online, the capsule includes; The Bloomsbury Jacket, a modern take from our archive – made with an all-seasons RAINTEC cotton, a fitting tribute to the literary capital of London. The Forster Trouser in charcoal wool, named after the novelist who penned ‘Howards End’, uses wool sourced from the heralded William Bliss mills in Chipping Norton. Famous for their innovation with Gun Check and Herringbone wool patterns they also achieve an unrivalled level of softness through their cloth finishing process, which creates the highest quality of woven product. The Moore Roll Neck follows, made from a cashmere and merino wool blend, available in red and blue, created in celebration of the great aesthetic who believed in ‘Art for Art’s Sake’. The Woolfe Crew Neck, a timeless classic, made in Scotland with fibres sourced and spun in Italy, honours the most influential modernist of the 20th century.
The capsule is rounded off with a unique collaboration between Mackintosh and Parisian shoe designers Jacques Soloviére, who have together created three silhouettes, a pair of khaki suede laced shoes, white leather sneakers and terracotta suede sneakers all made in Italy with 100% leather - A perfect sartorial fusion of classic style and contemporary elegance.
